What size are the doors and what is the wood species?
Currently all the doors are 36" wide. The
Tudor Series are available in 7' or 6'8" and are Oak or Ash. Oak
has more knots for a more rustic look, and the Ash is more clear. Other than the
Tudor doors all other entry doors are African Mahogany. There are 5 choices of
Eight Foot Doors (95-1/4") doors.
All other doors are 79-1/4" tall. All the doors are 1-3/4" thick. We
hope to have some 30" doors in the near future.
Are the doors solid wood?
The doors have a veneer over an engineered core of like material. This
engineered core gives greater stability to the door in terms of warping extends
the life of the door. Because the engineered core is of like material the
expansion and contraction rate is the same throughout the door. Jambs are
constructed with the same process.

What is a rough opening?
The rough opening is the space requirement needed to install a door with a
frame and sill. Included in the "rough opening" is between a 1/2" and 1"
of space for shimming.

What is jamb size or jamb width?
This dimension is determined by wall thickness and construction.
Typical jamb widths are 4-9/16" for 2 x 4 construction and 6-9/16" for 2 x 6
construction. These numbers can vary depending on age of home, building
codes and type of construction. Jamb width is not always easily measured
as often times interior and exterior moldings are included in the measurement
which should not be included. Shown below is a picture of a more non
typical jamb width of 5-1/4". The best solution is to
determine closely what this jamb width is so the sill size can be determined and
then if it is not a typical size such as 4-9/16" or 6-9/16" it is better to get
the 6-9/16" size jamb and rip to the exact size on site by the installer.
Example of
5-1/4" Jamb Width, older home, not typical.
Do you make other size doors
or custom order doors?
Not at this time however with an order of 10 doors of the exact same type
this may be accommodated..
How long does it take to get doors after the order is placed?
Typically
4-6 weeks.
What is the swing of a door?
We determine this from an exterior position coming into the home. If the
door swings into the right it is a right hand swing, if it swings to the left it
is a left hand swing.

What type of glass is used?
The glass is triple pane with tempered glass on the exposed surfaces with
the various decorative leaded glass in the middle for beauty, security and ease
of cleaning. Types of glass used in the various doors are Water, Bevel,
Cord Reed Vertical, Granite, Vecio, Baroque and Random Diamond Tips.
Can I get a door only or do I need a frame kit too?
If you are remodeling or it is new construction you will probably want a
frame kit. If your existing frame/jamb is
in need of repair you will probably want a frame kit. Many people however
have been able to have door installers, install a door only into their existing
frame. One of the advantages of a frame kit is that the frame is made of
the same material as the door so if you plan on staining the frame and door they
will match. If you have any question in this area check with your door
installer.
Do you
cut the door to the dimensions I give on the worksheet?
No, the purpose of getting the dimensions is verify that we are giving
you a door that can be made to work in your application. The doors come
with the dimensions stated above. As stated above our doors are 36" doors
and we try to avoid using terms such as standard size as it seems this can vary
from region to region.
My
existing door is a full 80", can I still use one of your doors?
If you are purchasing a slab (door) only and are replacing a full 80"
door we have sweeps available that can make up the 3/4" difference.
Will you bore
my door for an entryset?
Only if you purchase a door, frame kit and entryset, no exceptions.
We do not sell mortise locks and doors will be
bored only.
